There is work which is by no means of a confidential nature which might be confided to a newspaper Press, without inconvenience.

It will be seen by this report that the tonnage which entered the Port in 1885 has been larger than in any previous year viz : 5,663,931 tons. The diagram attached to the Report shews that there has been a steady rise since 1879, with the exception only of the year 1884, when the hostilities between France and China led to temporary distress.
